Frequently Asked Questions

  • Nutrition with Riley does not currently take insurance (we are working on it!) We do accept HSA/FSA, as well as credit/debit cards for payment. If you have health insurance, we are more than happy to provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement for our sessions. The superbill does not guarantee reimbursement.

We recommend calling your insurance company to inquire about your out of network coverage. Call the member services number on the back of your card and ask:

    1. Does my plan cover out of network outpatient nutrition counseling? (codes: 97802 and 97803)

    2. If yes, how many sessions are allowed?

    3. Does my plan only cover visits that are “medically necessary”? or does it also cover preventive services? (code: Z71.3)

    4. Does my plan cover Telehealth for nutrition counseling? (location code: 02)

    5. Do I have a deductible to meet first?

    6. If yes, how much is my deductible?

    7. How much of the deductible have I met?

    8. Do I have a copay for outpatient nutrition counseling?

    9. Do I need a physician referral?

Record the representative’s name and a reference # when checking your benefits. This information will be necessary if you ever need to dispute a rejected claim.

  • Nutrition with Riley works with clients ages 15+.

Treating adolescents and teens typically means working heavily with family and coordinating care with PCPs and therapists.

  • As a Health at Every Size (HAES) aligned practice, Nutrition with Riley aims to create a space where clients are free to explore nutrition and health promoting behaviors (like movement, self-care, stress management, etc) without the lense of weight loss.

Nutrition with Riley is not against clients seeking support for weight loss. Rather, we focus on what health means in the bigger picture. If you want to lose weight, we are here to help you unpack what that means and why that desire exists. You are welcome here.
